It’s the big weekend

Posted by Heather in Beer Wine & Cocktails, Entertaining, Weddings on August 26th, 2010

That’s right folks: we’ve made it an entire year. !

I remembered to take the top tier of our wedding cake out of the freezer this morning — it’s pretty squished and was at one time wrapped in foil before I repackaged to saran and a ziplock. If you don’t hear from us next week it’s because we were poisoned by the cake.

Weddin' Cake

To celebrate, we are hosting a Beer Tasting at our house this weekend! We figured we threw a pretty awesome party last year, why not keep with the tradition?

Darling husband has worked tirelessly to develop a hardcore beer menu and will be serving samples at our bar starting around… 5pm (officially the party starts at 3:30, but he wants to ensure no one misses the brews). We’re also debuting our home brew, which I anticipate will be received with rave reviews.

And, because I thought it was the most awesome day — ever — I leave you with more pictures than you’d probably care to look at:

Pretty Greys

Essie - Chinchilly

Essie - Chinchilly

I have been eyeing grey nailpolishes for a few weeks now, but Krystal’s post the other day pushed me over the edge.

I’ll say I wish the color was a bit more opaque, but besides that, a ver nize substitute for my reg Limo-Scene.

Now.. thoughts on matte top coat???

So this is what i get.

Posted by Heather in Coffee & Espresso on August 18th, 2010

A few times a week I avoid spending $4.12 at Starbucks and make my own mocha at home before work.

This morning I was running late because of an 8:30 meeting with the boss and “our friends from Japan” (read: I had to look like a grown up). Husband did me a solid and took the espresso off the stove for me while I ran around looking for my skirt and shading in my shoe with a pencil (that’s a long story for another day).

As I am about to run out the door I dump said espresso in my martini shaker with a crap load of ice. Shake, shake, shake EXPLODE.

Coffee coffee everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE. I still smell like it.

I yell. “Nathan.!!”

He yells back “ARE YOU BURNED?!” (this is another, even longer, story for another day)

I respond “No but I MADE A HUGE FREAKING MESS AND I HAVE TO GO!”

I quickly threw 4 dish towels on the floor to try and mop up the mess, dropped my skirt, ran to the bedroom, found a new outfit, sprayed my skirt with oxyclean and ran out the door. I was miraculously only 5 minutes late to the office.

9:30 my phone vibrates. Anyone who knows my husband knows he does not send unsolicited “just checking on you” text messages.

“You can still have a good day even though you spilled your coffee, right?”

I love this man.

“Triumphant Success”

Posted by Heather in Beer Wine & Cocktails, Home Brewing on August 15th, 2010

Racansky American Amber

Though not technically “ready” for another week, we decided to crack one of our home brews open to check on its progress. When handsome husband popped the cap off, the hiss of CO2 was — I dunno — relieving! hahaha. It was the sound of carbonated beer!

And I must say, it is delicious. Delicious, I say! I can only imagine how the flavor will “mature” over the next week.

Enjoying my Brew

Summer Funtimes

Posted by Heather in Beer Wine & Cocktails, Summer on August 15th, 2010

Yesterday we ate a lot of bbq, drank a lot of beer, and laughed a lot at funny people dancing.

It was perfect weather for an outside shindig and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We drank bottomless beers, laid in the grass and soaked up the sun. I think this was our first outdoor event of the summer.  How lame is that?

PS We’ll be cracking open a homebrew tonight to see how it’s coming along.

100th Post! 100th Post!

Posted by Heather in Fashion & Shopping on August 13th, 2010

To celebrate this monumental milestone in indeepknit’s history, let’s discuss what I did on my morning commute:

Drove. Carefully. Applied makeup at stop lights. Drove. Even more carefully. While I placed my order for these on Rue La La – using my phone:

Minnetonkas!!

Whoops!! I already own one pair, which I purchased after seeing them on Ashley (and as a result, swooned over for weeks until I got a coupon AND they were on sale at Lord & Taylor. Hello.) They are my absolute favorite shoes (even in the not-so-dead of winter).

PLUS, I really have no casual shoes in the black family. For some reason, everything I buy is brown. Until now.

So. $25 + shipping later, I have a present coming my way.

GPOY…T?

Posted by Heather in Randomness on August 12th, 2010

That’s right. Gratuitous Picture of Yourself Thursday. Because I’m bored. And I can.

On an unrelated note: I think I want to start wearing headbands. Sparingly. Specifically those double-thin ones. I’ve seen them so pretty on people (read: models) with a messy bun.
